Types of Rugs We Clean
Every rug type demands a different approach. Using the wrong method on the wrong fiber can cause dye bleeding, shrinkage, or permanent texture damage.
Persian & Oriental Rugs
Hand-knotted rugs with natural dyes require cold-water immersion cleaning to prevent color migration. We test dye stability on a hidden corner before full treatment. Fringe is cleaned separately by hand.
Silk Rugs
Silk fibers are extremely delicate and cannot tolerate hot water or aggressive agitation. We hand-clean silk rugs with pH-neutral solutions and air-dry flat to prevent distortion.
Wool Rugs
Wool is resilient but shrinks under excessive heat. We use controlled-temperature extraction (never exceeding 150°F for wool) and ensure thorough rinsing to prevent soap residue that attracts future dirt.
Synthetic & Machine-Made Rugs
Nylon, polyester, and polypropylene rugs tolerate more aggressive cleaning. We use hot-water extraction at standard temperature with targeted stain treatment for high-traffic wear patterns.
Antique & Heirloom Rugs
Age-weakened fibers need the gentlest approach. We assess structural integrity before cleaning and may recommend stabilization repairs before or after the process.
